extra credit wikipedia follow up

So for my extra credit i decided to write about some topics i learned about in my Intercultural COmmunication class involving cultures and their deep structure. You can check it out here. So far, no one has edited my work so that is a good thing. Although i guess the guy who wrote about deep structure in linguistics got a little offended that mine was first so he put his first to be seen, real mature... Anyway, so far the only change to my article has been switching it from the first topic to second.
Although not much has been done to my article and there is not much i can say about it, i can say i learned this. I learned that contributing to Wikipedia is so easy and rewarding. You do not even need a username to add/edit works. I suggest everyone look up their favorite thing in the world, and do some editing. Put some facts that you know about that aren't up there yet. Granted, my article is just about some boring class work i learned, but the fact that it is up on the internet for every college student in the world who is ever experiencing problems with the deep structure topic of Intercultural Communication is rewarding to me. Ever since this extra credit, i have even contributed one other work to another topic involving rap music because it is something i like and have knowledge on.
Overall, i am glad my article is still up and unedited, and i suggest for everyone to edit some article of wikipedia sometime when they get a chance.

final blog - this is kinda crazy and i suggest you check it out and it only takes up 5 minutes of your night

I suggest you, Derek, to do this little step by step thing you would definitely find it interesting and may even make a whole lecture out of it (no joke)

SO it took me a while to figure out what to write about and then I remembered a scary and terrible topic that came up in one of my tenth grade technology classes. I am sure you all know of Martin Luther King, freedom of speech, I had a dream, black rights! What if you went to a site, did a research project based on that site, and then found out the site was not what it seemed to be. I am talking about DECEPTION. Now i am sure because it is a .org you all think "wow this must be a great site woo hoo," WRONG! take a second to do these following steps I promise you will be amazed as I was when I did it (think about it I was so amazed I did this in 10th grade and will never forget what I saw. Even more to my amazement is that in 5 years since last doing this this site is still up!).

Step 1 - Go to the martin luther site
(check it out, check out historical readings, the truth about what king taught, blah blah blah.
Oh SH1T! They even have Rap Lyrics!)
obviously you can see something is quite fishy, but hey it’s a .org, it’s got to be legit.

Step 2 - go to this site Internic and then type in the domain search martinlutherking.org exactly as spelt there
Scroll down a little bit and look at the information, specifically look at:

Registrant Organization (right below admins name) and Admin Organization
(if you are really lazy the name is Stormfront Inc.)

look up Stormfront Inc on Google and what do you get: the Stormfront White Nationalist Community woo hoo a white Supremacist who owns martinlutherking.org! the site has been up since 1999!

now finally step 3. If you have Google earth, type in this guys address which is found in the details of the website to see his mansion (pretty crazy you can find information about nearly every website this way, specifically this White Supremacist named Don Black):

PO Box 6637
West Palm Beach, FL 33405

If you don’t have Google earth, just click this link to get an idea of how this guy is living by his location: mannnn. That sure does look like a rough area for a white supremacist to be living in that runs a Martin Luther King website huh?! (sarcasm)

Basically, what I am trying to get out of all this is if you are unsure about a website, check it up to make sure it’s legit. I remember when I learned about this in 10th grade, my teacher saying during Black History Month some school somewhere in America got sued because they had this site up representing Martin Luther King, and a black technician ended up winning the lawsuit.
If it looks fishy, check it up, not all sites are what they seem. How many people do you think in the early 2000s thought that this .org Martin Luther King website was run by a White Supremacist. Crazy world we live in eh?
